Acrylic vs stone resin baths
Acrylic baths are light enough for two people to carry, warm to the touch and cheaper. Stone resin baths are several times heavier, hold the water's heat longer and cost more. In Melbourne, freestanding baths typically sell for $1,010–$1,800, with most acrylic models in the lower half of that range.
| Acrylic | Stone resin | |
|---|---|---|

| Feels | Warm to touch | Cool at first, then holds heat |
| Keeps water warm | Well | Longer |
| Scratches | Can be buffed out | Can be sanded and repaired |
| Upstairs | Usually fine | Check the floor first |
| Price | Lower | Higher |
Weight and floors
Water weighs a kilogram a litre, so a 1500 mm bath holding about 200 litres adds about 200 kg plus the person in it, before the bath itself. That is fine on a slab. On a timber floor or upstairs, ask a builder to check the joists, especially for a stone resin bath.
Our baths
Our freestanding baths are acrylic, in 1500 mm and 1700 mm lengths, including a back-to-wall model that leaves no gap to clean behind.
